SAWIC – The South African Women in Construction (SAWIC) initiative was founded to empower women to gain access to business opportunities, training, finance and networks in the construction industry. SAWIC is a Section 21 Company, and was incorporated in 1999.

SAWIC is owned by all its members.
SAWIC has worked very closely with relevant government departments over the years, including but not limited to Human Settlements, Public Works, State Owned Enterprises who have all continued to promote, support and uplift women in the construction industry, nationally and beyond borders.

Ever since its inception, SAWIC has monthly information and training workshops held in the nine Provinces to fulfil its objectives.

Vision To be an association of excellence with global networks enhancing the role of women in the construction industry through members running profitable and sustainable business enterprises.

Mission To promote and support the advancement of women in the construction industry and Built environment at large.

Ethos Commits itself to professionalism, compliance with all legislative and regulatory frameworks. This includes compliance with internally drafted policies, procedures and operating principles.

Corporate Values strives to operate in accordance with the highest standards of corporate governance through the principles of honesty, integrity and performance.

 Encourage women to pursue and establish their careers in the construction industry;

 Increase members’ awareness of the legislative process and legislation as it relates to the construction industry; 

 To assist in creating an enabling environment for business opportunities for members as well as investment opportunities for sustaining the organisation.
